Brayden Myer

for Manitowoc School Board

Who Am I?

I am a 19-year-old recent graduate of Lincoln High School. As a lifelong resident of Manitowoc, I am proud to call Manitowoc my home. In high school, I enrolled in the Rising Phoenix program. Through that, I earned dual credits for Lincoln High School and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. In June 2023, when I graduated from high school, I earned my Associate’s Degree and 91 college credits. In December 2023, I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, being designated Magna Cum Laude. I minored in Public Administration and Democracy and Justice Studies, and I earned a certificate in Organizational Development. I am a lifetime member of the National Society of High School Scholars, Phi Theta Kappa, and Phi Sigma Pi.

Why am I running?

I offer something no other Board member and candidate can: a Fresh Perspective. As a 19-year-old, I relate to students’ needs on a much more personal level. With my 13-years of student experience and being fresh out of high school, I know exactly what is occurring in our schools. I have witnessed student discipline problems, among many other aspects of the school system, first-hand. I am ready to bring my time and energy to the Board to make the MPSD great for all parents, students, teachers, staff, and members of the community.

What have I Recently accomplished?

  • I was the only student to serve on the school board ad-hoc committee to reform student handbooks and improve behavior.
  • Influenced the Board not to adopt a curriculum due to its nondiversity, inequality, exclusion agenda.
  • Suggested whistleblower protection to the Board, which has been adopted.
  • Advocated against the inclusion of LGBTQ materials in the curriculum, and against race-based scholarships.
  • Voiced support for the Board’s reform efforts to fix our education system.

What is my platform?

Parental Rights

Parents deserve to have the ultimate authority over their children’s education, not the government. Their children should attend the school that best suits their needs, and have the right to homeschool.

No men in women’s sports, rooms

Gender is binary. Women shouldn’t have to fear men entering women’s bathrooms and locker rooms and playing in women’s sports.

Remove pornography from school libraries

Minors in all grade levels should not have access to the present detailed and illustrated pornographic books that sexualize them at a young age.

Fiscal responsibility

Taxpayer funding must be used wisely. The district should avoid wasteful spending and reallocate funds to avoid raising taxes. Government should take and spend only what it needs, not a penny more.

Patriotic education

I want students to grow up knowing that America is the greatest place on Earth. They should be proud to call themselves Americans, not ashamed.

Removing politics

Students should not be subjected to a national partisan political agenda. Identity politics, and any other form, harm and distract from students’ education.

characteristics / beliefs

I believe: (1) It is important to preserve America’s history. (2) Parents should have the biggest influence on the education of their children. (3) Children should be equipped with the power of independent thinking. (4) Products made in America should be prioritized. (5) Educational materials which elevate Socialism and Communism should be eliminated. (6) I will vote for what brings the greatest benefits to our community.
